H473: Narrative About Clarence by Suspense
« on: December 03, 2012, 10:22:50 AM »
This episode was fun, but I'm increasingly realizing I'm a sucker for hypnotism stories. You just don't get enough of them these days - it also brought to mind this bit of news that I stumbled across recently:

2nd hypnotist rescues students stuck in trance
Private school show unfurls after hypnotized students don't snap out of it

A show at a private girls' high school in Sherbooke, Que., went strangely awry when a young hypnotist left several students in "mass hypnosis" limbo and he had to call in his mentor to snap them out of it.

I haven't seen the newer one, but I'm a big fan of the original.

I liked the remake also.  For me, it was just as good as the original, just updated.  Meryl Streep's role in "The Devil Wears Prada" holds no candle to the evil she portrays in the remake of "Manchurian."

This all reminds me of the old Saturday Night Live clip with Jon Lovitz playing the hypnotist "The Amazing Alexander."  Too funny!

All we have here in the Canadia is wooden nickles.

Question: Here in the Detroit area we sometimes get a Canadian quarter or dime from a retailer but when we try and pay with it they say "sorry we dont take Canadian coins" Do Canadians have the same problem?

I had only seen Angela Lansbury as Angela Fletcher in Murder She Wrote, so seeing her in the Manchurian Candidate was an interesting turn. I haven't read the book, although I did give it as a gift to a friend. I haven't watched the remake either, although the cast seems very good. I'm just not too into remakes. I am disappointed by far too many of them.

Peter, I could mail you a Queen of Hearts....

I can't imagine any Canadian would have a problem if someone gave them a Canadian quarter or dime.

 ;) Sorry, couldn't resist.  ;D

After watching her for years in Murder She Wrote, I almost got whiplash watching Lansbury in Manchurian Candidate.  She was amazing.

And, for the most part, I feel the same way about remakes.  However, this remake was really well done.

 ??? ;D

Actually, especially here in the Toronto area, I've noticed the same problem. Most stores won't raise a fuss about accepting them, but I have hit the occasional stickler. (With the quarter.)
