List your top three (or four, or five...) favorite Old Time Radio moments here! Doesn't matter if you remember the air date or who exactly said (or did) it, so long as you remember it!

You know, the first one may or may not count...I recall riding home Christmas eve (must have been around 73 or 74).  I was in the floorboard of the back seat of our 68 Olds (way before we needed to be strapped in to be safe!) dozing in and out sleep.  I guess my head was filled with visions of sugar plums and such.  Either way, the memory is of a radio production of A Christmas Story.  Can't really tell you what production or who was in it, but it was one of my fondest memories because it is connects me so strongly to that moment.

The second one happens everytime I listen to FM&M or Gildy.  As I mentioned on the other board, my father tried to get me interested in otr when he was alive and I listened occasionally but never really got into it.  I would hear my grandfather and father quote sayings from FM&M like "that ain't the way I heerd it" and "Bird Book" and "laughed" when they would do it.  Now, as I listen to FM&M and Gildersleeve religiously, I get a chance to reminisce with them every time I hear Old Timer say the words.

My first experience with OTR is very similar. I remember it was Sunday night because we were on our way home from church and it was around the same time (early 70's)  I remember it was CBSRMT..

1 - Listening to the episode "The Dark" by Lights Out at my cabin at night on my hearphones in the dark....pretty creepy, I felt like I was there with them.
2 - First Time I Heard War Of The Worlds....can't have an October month without listening to it at least 2 or 3 times.
3 - "Valse Triste" by Lights Out has been also a pretty disturbing moment.

My personal top ones:  Listening to the War of the Worlds broadcast for the first time.  I heard a recording of it in 6th grade and thought it was really cool!

Dragnet's .22 Rifle For Christmas.

Just about any of Fibber McGee and Molly.

The Thing on the Fourble Board from Quiet Please.

These days, when I listen to OTR, I will look at the date and wonder if one of my parents were listening to the same episode.  I cannot remember what show this was--I think may have been X Minus One or some other science fiction show--but the date on it was the day my parents got married.  I wondered if they listened to it. :-)
