I dug out my old records and re-discovered this classic from Stevie Wonder:

Enjoy!

That was the first song I ever heard as a little kid and recognized it as music and knew that it was just not a sound I was hearing in the house.  Weird description, I know, but it's the only way I know to describe it.  "Sir Duke" was the very first song I ever heard and was my intro into a world of music that hasn't stopped yet.

That's an interesting definition... I've been trying to remember which one is this for me (no success so far)

This is one of my favorite songs from the '70's.

Heart - Dreamboat Annie

The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year. This is one of their mellower songs.

This particular clip is from the BBC show Whistle Test (or The Old Grey Whistle Test)

Enjoy!

I've just rediscovered this song from the 70's. It had been stuck in my head for awhile and then I searched for it and now it is on constant repeat on my ipod.

It sounds weird, but it didn't really hit me until I was an adult.  Every time I heard "Sir Duke" certain memories came up, and I finally put two-and-two together.

Sir Duke was kind of burned into my mind when I worked in a kids clothing store. They had a bunch of songs on an hour loop. They were supposed to change the tape every two or three hours (we had three) but they never did. The funny part is I didn't see the video until years later. These songs were on a videotape and the monitors played Hanna Barbara cartoons set to the music. Sir Duke was set to Yogi Bear.

Well, I know when I hear Sir Duke, the first thing I think of is Yogi Bear.   ::)

Oh wow! That takes me back.

I remember seeing that on "The Midnight Special" (the clip you have here) and I thought it was an OK song at the time - still think so. On the other hand my brother really liked the song.

Like a few other 70's songs, it just hits the right notes of nostalgia for me.

Right now I'm listening to The Adventures of Frank Merriwell.  I finished up with Fibber McGee and Molly and listened to a few episodes of Foundation (a BBC adaptation of Asimov's Foundation books) but I couldn't really get into it.  Fred Allen is coming up next on my list.
