I'm on a two month tour of the US right now and have been trying to suit my listening to our location. I worked my way through most of Season 2 of Gunsmoke while in the South, with a brief dip into Jim's 'Gangster' collection while I was in Chicago. Today we stopped in Deadwood en route to Montana so I listened to a lot of 'Wild Bill Hickok'.
That is so cool. I quit my job about 10 yrs ago cashed in my 401K and hit the road, took i-75 south to FLA circled back to ATL and followed I-20 to Texas circled back to GA to visit my sister and was running low on cash so I got a job and rented a room on the Chattahoochee river in Roswell GA, stayed there three years.
I headed to New Orleans and my car broke down in Odenville, AL, rented a room from an old couple who owned a machine shop in town, i worked there about three more years got home sick for Michigan and came back but I wish I never did.
I met a lot of different ppl on the road, while I was working in the Atlanta area I only met one person that was originally from the state.
I don't recommend anyone do what I did but looking back I'm glad I got to see the places I did.
PS: yes I'm nuts
