After reading everyone's comments, I'm glad I never read the original JAWS book.  That would have just discouraged me from seeing the movie had I been old enough.  I was a little kid & STAR WARS was the first movie I saw in the theater.   However, my parents took me to see JAWS 2 in the theater.  I'm also glad they didn't stick too close to the book when making the original movie from the sounds of it.  I can't say JAWS 2 is better than the original because for me the original is just SOOO awesome!  The only Peter Benchley book I've actually read is BEAST.  The book was creepy, and I heard they made a movie from it for TV in the 1990's, but I never saw it.  Not sure how they ended it for a TV audience because I know it wasn't a happy ending in the book.  Anyone else read this one?

Never read it but did see the TV version. It was OK, but when you've seen Jaws, and something treads the same path, it is going to pale by comparison, no matter how much you try not to compare it you will.

Just watch the trailer- it is Jaws with a squid.

I think I'm now glad I only read the book.   ;)

Ha!  You can talk about Jaws as long as you want, but THIS is the ultimate shark movie!!

;D  (and yes, "holy s***!" that is the very worst - heck - the most worstest bit of acting to ever appear on a screen!  Look at the "terror" in his eyes - who needs special effects when you have actors like that?)

WOW!!!!  That was awful.  I think in that one, I'd have to root for the shark!  Those passengers don't have a chance fighting against reality much less a mega shark!   :o

Mac, that clip is absolutely awesome, but no discussion of sharks would be complete without these two:

But wait...there's more!

Well, since we're still talking about "Jaws", I remembered that there was a novelty/comedy song based on the movie called "Mr. Jaws". It came out in 1975 (not very long after the movie came out). The single was released by Dickie Goodman and it's format was that of an interviewer getting his answers back as music clips.

Wow, I haven't heard that in years! Thanks!

Sometimes I contemplate the kinds of movies Barry knows and I get worried. Very worried.
