1) Miss Kitty can't understand why you're not a Billionaire when she listens to your music.
Because not everybody is as nice a person as she is...

2) She also suggests that a paid version of the same songs that are available for free, may not be as "expedient" as offering half of your music for free and the OTHER half for a fee... what if all of your music (that's been free for a long time now) is sold, while new offerings are posted for free.  How do drug dealers do it??  ;-)
Well, this actually makes a lot of sense, but it'll take a lot more work on myself before I can actually do something like that...  :-/
I still can't convince myself that anybody should have what I do whether they can pay for it or not, the real problem is within myself (which is actually where the vast majority of real problems really are).  But the idea is pretty good, and I'll definitely keep it in mind - thank you  :)

3) We love you.
That is absolutely mutual!!!

Today I went to take some pictures with my uncle, and he pointed out that it wouldn't be a bad idea to start thinking also about my future (meaning when I'll be old).  Since I've never had regular jobs (except for the past five years and a couple of years when I was a kid), I will not have a pension when I retire from whatever I'll be retiring (here in Italy the employer gives money to the government - a certain percentage of your paycheck - every month, so that when you retire you'll basically get it back, a certain sum a month).  I never had any job that was lucrative enough to allow me to have a private pension scheme of any kind.   Whether I feel it/think about it or not, I'm almost 50.  My uncle is right, I have to include plans for a private pension scheme into this redesign of my life...  It's not something I have to think about right now, but I'll have to as soon as possible...
Life is complicated, isn't it?

Mac!

I was actually quite excited that you were moving to a slightly-more-money-making-model when I read about it in your newsletter. I've derived a lot of pleasure/creative juice from your work, and I'd love to have the opportunity to pay you back a little something for it.

I wish I could avoid this and keep music pure, but times are tough... besides, I've been giving it away for free for over ten years, so maybe it's part of some kind of cosmic balance if  something comes back.  Still, I don't particularly like it  :-/

Thank you  :)    However, you've paid back much more than I could ever ask for with your writing. Besides, for friends, family and a few selected Canadians who might want a download link, what I do will always be free, all it takes is an email ;-)

Ha! I'm glad to hear the energy flows both ways, but I think it's time we start taking this Internet piracy thing seriously - it sounds like even the musicians are starting to steal from themselves!  ;D

Haven't rappers been doing that for years? I heard one the other day that stole A-Ha's "Take on Me." You can't even call it sampling when it is the central conceit of the song.

Of course, I think Robert Plant stealing from himself on behalf of Puffy being the worst, because it took a classic rocker and turned it into a lousy, forgettable rap.

Awful song for an awful film.

It does make me wonder, however, if I could make some quick cash by having my three-year-old mutter over top of Stairway to Heaven.

Music is dead...

 :'(

Wait a minute here! Music is not dead - just resting.

In the past we've had some really bad songs, but always when things look their bleakest something good will come along.

If music can survive "Disco Duck" it can survive anything.

Does it get worse than this?!?
There's many a slip 'twixt the cup and the lip.

I wish I could be so optimistic...    even disco duck sounds like a masterpiece compared to the vast majority of the mainstream music of today  :(
