The Bear
« on: February 25, 2013, 12:36:18 PM »
Jim, I have searched for this Gunsmoke episode on the RR site but didn't locate it.  I have a copy that I obtained elsewhere, but those knuckleheads cut off the last few minutes of the show, so I have a story with no ending.  When you have a chance, could you please play "The Bear" by Gunsmoke?  It's dated 1/16/1954.

Thanks, Jim!!   8)

You know what? I looked and I have the same problem with my episode. I have all of the gunsmokes at the end of mine it does say what happened to the bear but it gets cut off before the end. How long is the recording you have?

Looks like I pulled it off my phone with the last update, but I want to say it's about 22 minutes or so.

Janece, a thousand apologies!  I looked around for a complete version of this but was unable to find anything.  Every copy I found was cut off at the end.

Then, I promptly neglected to mention it here.

Maybe Peter could get some folks together, along with Miss Kitty of course, and record an ending to this one?   ;)

At least you remember the show title. I just would have gone one with phrases like: "the guy who shot the other guy..." and so on.

Marriage turns us in to gangsters, I guess.

"You take care of that thing?
"What thing?"
"The Brooklyn thing?"
"Yeah, with the guy."
"Oh yeah, I took care of that."

So either they left a deposit for a party or someone got whacked.

You're right!  :)  My husband and I will have a conversation.  Then we'll start a totally different discussion, maybe 2.  About 30 minutes after that, one of us will say, "Yea because....such-and-such..." referring back to the original conversation.  Never skip a beat.  Weird what marriage does to your brain.

Well, just to let anyone who's interested know, I am now convinced that a completed version of this episode DOES NOT exist anywhere in the known universe.  I got a compilation CD from a friend of mine over the weekend that has Gunsmoke episodes on it, and this "official" copy of "The Bear" is also cut off a couple of minutes from the end.  Yeah.  Spot-checking and proof-reading for the win!  Oh, wait, no....not so much.
